From the CBS 8 West Alabama Newsroom--  An 18 year old Selma man is behind bars for the strong armed robbery of an 88 year old senior citizen.

Police Chief William Riley said Amos Heard allegedly attacked and robbed the 88 year-old man last week.

Riley said Heard and another man choked and threatened the victim and stole about $500 dollars in cash.

"We're talking about an 88 year old man, who is in his home, not bothering anybody and he's just viciously accosted by these individuals," said Riley.

Heard was arrested Monday afternoon. He's being held in the Dallas County Jail.
