From the CBS 8 West Alabama Newsroom--  The city of Selma is offering people that have arrest warrants for unpaid traffic tickets a chance to pay their fines - and stay out of jail.

The Amnesty Program will be available for the entire month of February.

Municipal court officials say the program is an opportunity for people to clear up outstanding traffic warrants without the fear of being arrested.

They say the program will also help the city court system by reducing the number of arrest warrants it has on the books.

"If you don't necessarily have the money that should not make you fearful, we have options, we have JCS Probation which is like if you need to pay a little at a time, they can work with you," said court employee Ashley Mobley.

For more information call the Selma Municipal Court at (334) 874-2135.
