From the CBS 8 Troy Newsroom-- It appears it's a no go for the selling of beer inside Troy University's football stadium once football season resume this fall.

 "There's lots of kids around, and alcohol tends to create an atmosphere that kids don't need to be around," says student Tim Huber. 

The idea first popped up in September when the university's concession provider, Sudexo, applied for an alcohol license.

The athletic department would not go on camera, but they say they've looked at other schools that sell beer at sporting events keeping a close eye on their profits and safety issues.They say it doesn't look like the idea would work well for Troy University.

While it may be a long time before alcohol is allowed beyond these gates, it doesn't look like the debate will slow down any time soon.

"A lot of people would show up but, you know, there would be fights," says student Sarah Kasy.

"People bring their own alcohol, so either way it goes, why not make a profit," says student Mercedes Combs.

Several area churches also oppose the idea of selling beer at sporting events.
