CBS 8 News is covering Greenville where parents and community members weigh in after Tuesday night's meeting about the possibility of a city school system.

A feasibility study reveals that it would take about $5.5 million to start a city school system. Some parents wonder how Greenville would come up with that kind of money. The mayor says raising taxes would not be an option, but more jobs could solve the problem.

Other parents tell us the possibility of a new system seems feasible if the city is able to work through the kinks.

"Once those things are ironed out I think that the majority will get behind city schools and we have to get the community involved. We have to have a grass roots effort to get the community back involved in our schools," says Laura Fuller.

"All of us have a stake in economic development and it is directly tied to the school system. We are doing some wonderful things in our school system but is there room for betterment, of course there is," says Allen Stephenson.

You can find the feasibility study on the City of Greenville website, www.greenville-alabama.com.
