CBS 8 News is covering Butler County where children and parents get a real life look at what could happen if they're not properly buckled in when riding in a car.

The Department of Public Safety uses the rollover simulator to demonstrate an accident with and then without seat belts.

Kids watched intently Thursday afternoon as the dummies were thrown out in just a few seconds.

Many parents tell us it was an eye opening experience and something they're thankful their kids had the opportunity to see.

"It really makes you realize how important it is to buckle up and for everyone in the car to wear their seatbelts because you never know what may happen and if you really love your kids, that would be the best thing to do is to buckle them up," says Willoma Jenkins.

The event was sponsored by Children's Trust Fund of Alabama.
