CBS 8 News is covering Greenville where a couple of restaurants known for their smoking sections have decided to ban it.

Crackel Barrel has also made the switch. Managers say they eliminated their smoking section this past Monday.

Several folks tell us they're glad but some smokers say it's disappointing.

City officials discussed the possibility of passing an ordinance a few years ago but now, they won't have to.

"We do support it. We know that it will be controversial. Some people won't like it but at the same time it's something that is coming throughout this state and nation and you will see most restaurants be non smoking as time goes on," says Dexter McLendon.

McLendon says besides a couple of bars in Greenville, these were the last 2 major restaurants that still had a smoking section.
