One of the defendants in Alabama's gambling corruption case filed for bankruptcy four days before he died.

Court records show that 63-year-old Ray Crosby filed for bankruptcy Wednesday in Montgomery. He was found dead in the bed of his Montgomery home late Sunday afternoon. Court records show he had liabilities totaling $618,000, including his mortgage, credit card debt and attorneys' fees.

Crosby was one of seven defendants scheduled for retrial Monday in the gambling case. U.S. District Judge Myron Thompson delayed the retrial one week because of Crosby's death.

Montgomery police are awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause of death.
